Dr. Juan Garisto is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Harvard University School of Medicine as well as an Urologic Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon within the VA Boston Healthcare System. Dr. Garisto received his medical degrees from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, completed his urology training in Panama, and completed his oncology fellowship at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre at the University of Toronto (Toronto, Ontario, Canada). He continued his training in minimally invasive surgery (MIS) at the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio, USA). He had the opportunity to be part of the surgical team that performed the first single port robotic urology procedure in the United States.

With a practice focused on minimally invasive treatment for urologic cancer, Dr. Garisto is the author of over 100 peer reviewed publications and surgical book chapters. His expertise has enabled him to be a reviewer, co-editor and author of several scientific journals including, “European Urology”, “European Urology Oncology”, “European Urology Focus”, “Surgical Oncology”, “Clinical Genitourinary Cancer”, “Journal of Laparoendoscopic & Advances Surgical Technique”, “The Journal of Urology”, “World Journal of Urology”, “Actas Urológicas Españolas”, BJU International”, “BMC Urology” among others. Dr. Garisto’s research focuses on active surveillance for prostate cancer, orthotopic bladder cancer models, and adjuvant immunotherapy for urologic malignancies.
